Let $\{p_n\}$ be a sequence in a metric space that converges to $p$.

We then say that $p$ is the limit of $\{p_n\}$ (see Theorem T22), and we write $p_n\to p$, or $\displaystyle\lim_{n\to\infty}p_n=p$.
